What exactly do you do in AZUB?
Production Manager.

How did you come to work here?
Originally, I was a satisfied AZUB customer. I was living at the other side of the country, working in a totally different field. One day an email in my mailbox caught my attention, it said that AZUB were looking for a new team member. I began thinking how I could make it work so that I would enjoy both my hobby and my job. Within a few weeks, this purely philosophical contemplation turned into a matter of decision. I said yes, the wife agreed, the children and the dogs refrained from voting.

What made the prospect of working in AZUB attractive for you?
Cycling and travelling have always been my greatest hobbies. I joined AZUB as an international sales manager so I was looking forward to enjoying both my hobby and my job.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
That is quite difficult to define. Often it is meeting really interesting people, as there are many of those in the world of alternative cycling. At other times, it is being pleased with a gadget that has improved our bikes. And also our AZUB team events are excellent too.

And what do you really hate?
I hate it when someone tells me that something cannot be done. And neither do I enjoy telling others that something cannot be done. Fortunately, at least something can usually be done. 😉

Do you remember your first encounter with a recumbent bike?
It was in Austria, on the Inn cycle trial. I was returning with a fully-loaded bike from France. It was raining, there was terrible headwind, and suddenly, a pair of pensioners with smiles on their faces overtook me.

Which AZUB model do you like the best and why?
I like bikes with a surprise element, such as the Origami which looks like a toy but is a fully-fledged machine with great riding properties. You will give tubular riders a run for their money and you can as easily take it on a trip for several days. From trikes it’s definitely the Ti-Fly – the most comfortable, the most beautiful and above all the most amusing trike.

When you are not in AZUB, what do you do?
I spend most of my free time with my family. We do a lot of sports and we are outdoors very often. I also like music and the theatre.

Which bike do you use the most?
I do most mileage on a scooter, whether it is commuting, hiking or racing. I do like to ride a recumbent and occasionally I have a go on a traditional bike as well.
