The compact AZUB MINI was upgraded to an electric recumbent by using the Shimano Steps E6100 which is combined with the Shimano Nexus Inter5 geared hub. This combination is what Shimano recommends as the best solution and we like it as well. It offers you 263% of a gear range and not only manual shifting but also an automatic one so you don’t need to care about anything. You just ride. Like in the car with automatic transmition.
