ABOUT ANNE-CÉCILE
I like: quiche (pretty much anything made from puff pastry actually), Christmas trees, koalas, Ryan Gosling, walks in the forest, Gray’s Anatomy, when my office is tidy, our fireplace, playing games with my friends, the word capharnaüm, fancy dress.
I do not like: when the pastry in quiche is soft, hamsters, Sunday nights, packing my suitcase, making decisions, coffee, people who answer “it goes like a Monday / Friday”, waiting, movies which are more than 2h long.
What I like about this trip: the idea of leaving everything.
What I fear most: that Nico will leave me by the roadside!
My role in travelling: managing the budget, ensuring the food supply, negotiating prices, writing blog posts, waking Nico in the morning, taking care of Nico when he gets hurt.
My best travel souvenir: in Namibia when we witnessed a real animal ballet . Zebras, giraffes and antelopes gathered around a water point and they all departed at the arrival of elephants which played in the water like children. A magical moment!
My worst memory: 2 days spent in the marshes of the Amazon rainforest. A tourist attraction where monkeys are fed to attract them, where a crocodile remains planted in front of the kitchen with its mouth open because it is given the remains of food, and where there are cockroaches under the bed.
ABOUT NICO
I like: pickles, programming, Australia, adventures, kites, surfing, snowboarding (all sledding sports in fact), 1 kg pots of Danette chocolate pudding, Bear Grylls, movies which are more than 2 hours long.
I do not like: when there is not enough wind during a kiting session, people who love horses, not getting where I want, dinners that drag on, the name Guy, public transport.
What I like about this trip: eating baboons on arrival.
What I fear most: Anne-Cé pedalling faster than me (and punctures).
My role in travelling: studying and making decisions about the itinerary, managing the website, rolling up sleeping bags and mats into their mini-bags (which is an impossible mission for Anne-Cé), repairing punctures, motivating Anne-Cé.
My best travel souvenir: our treks in Peru, on our own without a guide. Particularly the Salkantay, with a final ascent overnight to Machu Picchu to discover the site at dawn.
My worst memory: I hesitate between 2 … Salmonella in Bolivia in a place with a shared bathroom at the end of a long corridor OR the stomach bug during a night in a tent in the Amazon forest. In any case, a gastric problem!

The Silk Road and trikes
They set off on their journey from the foot of the Eiffel Tower on one beautiful sunny Sunday in March 2014. Nicolas Cochin, originally from Jumeauville, and his girlfriend, Anne-Cé. Ultimately, they managed to win a crazy bet that they would travel 12,500 kilometres from Paris to Bangkok along the Silk Road. They travelled on two AZUB TRIcon trikes.
