Granden is a Canadian recumbent rider who proves that serious off-road trike adventure does not require a motor—only determination, love for cycling, and a well-built machine is needed. Together with his wife Myra, he explores off-road trails and multi-day routes on their AZUB Ti-FLY X trikes, each equipped with a Rohloff hub and no electric assist.

We met Granden during a trip through the Rockies while visiting Canadian AZUB dealers. He invited us to ride with him on the MTB and adaptive trails around Kimberley, British Columbia, where he lives. Spending just a few hours on the trails with him made it clear how remarkable his cycling journey truly is.

In this interview, part of our “25 Years of Stories” series celebrating AZUB’s anniversary, Granden shares why cycling became such an important part of his life, what drew him toward trikes, and why he loves the simplicity and reliability of the Rohloff hub.

He also spoke passionately about the Lost Elephant MTB Challenge, a demanding off-road event he completed with Myra. The challenge covers hundreds of kilometers of rugged terrain, requiring both physical endurance and mental toughness.

Beyond the technical talk of trikes and gear, what stands out in Granden’s story is the partnership he shares with his wife. Riding together, powering every kilometer themselves, and embracing the joy of cycling as a lifestyle creates a bond that goes beyond just the road—or trail—beneath their wheels.

This interview is the third in our ongoing series “25 Years of Stories,” highlighting the adventures of riders around the world who embody the AZUB spirit. It is not only a celebration of AZUB trikes but also of the people who bring them to life through their journeys.
