Roll on in style
For many recumbent riders, 26” wheels and full suspension are simply alluring. In recent years, this trend can be seen especially in tricycles but is also evident in two wheelers. AZUB Ibex is one of the few recumbents that gives you both the suspension and the 26” wheels, and in addition, a relatively low seating position combined with a solid front suspension popular in mountain bikes. During the building process, we use many other components from the world of the classic MTBs, such as cranks with integrated axle, beautiful light and, above all, functional rims in combination with disc brakes, or even pretty original shifters. What is more, we use them even when mounted on the underseat steering (USS). You will not find such fully ergonomic solutions on a rival recumbent. Basically, if you ride the IBEX, all roads are open to you, not only in terms of the components but particularly when we talk about the destinations you wish to visit.
A combination of tradition and modernity
Ibex is based on proven technical solutions and components most of which we have been using on our bikes for years. After all, people have ridden on the Ibex not just across Europe but also through Asia and South America. And that means fully loaded, riding in the worst and toughest conditions you could possibly imagine. We listen to the experiences of the travellers, combine them with our own and little by little, though sometimes also in leaps and bounds, we try to improve our bikes. So today, you can enjoy a bike that is the result of combining the experience of dozens of travellers and many years of development. In addition to the simple and proven solutions, we bring you also some of our latest innovations. These include, for example, the smooth adjustable ergonomic seat mounted on the frame by a sliding sleeve and stable struts with locking nuts, or the fixing of the underseat steering handlebars with a safety system that prevents damage during a fall; or our entire IPS system thanks to which you can find the correct seating position in a few seconds. We are extremely proud of this system and strive to improve it further. You see, we believe that the bike should adapt to the rider, not the other way round.
AZUB Ibex is an excellent bike for taller people who enjoy a fast ride and who at times also like to try out rough roads. It is a bike much more suited for outdoor riding rather than weaving through heavy city traffic.
24 or 26?
However, this motto applies only to a certain extent. For all of us here in AZUB it is vital that our customer are completely happy and that they choose the best bike that we can offer just them. But for people of smaller stature, the AZUB Ibex with 26” wheels is slightly too high. Our many years of experience tell us that when this bike is equipped with a front suspension, its rider must be at least 180 cm tall, say 175 cm at the very least. Otherwise, he or she might have trouble with getting on and off, frequent stopping and starting in heavy city traffic or in more difficult terrain and on slippery surfaces. When the Ibex is equipped with a rigid front fork, the rider should be at least 170 cm tall. Due to these restrictions, we have also developed a version of the Ibex with 24” wheels. This size does complicate things a little bit concerning the selection of rims, tyres and especially suspension forks, but then again it brings pleasure od riding on a Ibex to smaller people too. However, if you are thinking of riding in really difficult terrain, you should consider purchasing our AZUB MINI with 20” wheels. 2 types of steering
You can choose from two different styles of steering. It is either the ASS – above seat steering (also called over seat steering) or the USS – under seat.
IPS - Ideal Position System
We firmly believe that a bike should adapt to the rider and not the other way round. Therefore, when Aleš designed his first recumbent bike back in 2000, he already tried to make it as adjustable as possible. And today, all our bikes and trikes are like that too. Adjustable features greatly help when learning to ride recumbent. Because when you buy your first recumbent bike, you have no idea if you will prefer sitting more upright or more reclined, you will only be able to decide after many hundreds of miles. With our bikes, adjusting your seating position couldn’t be easier.
Smooth adjustment of the seat
Ever since we started back in 2000, we have always thought that a bike should adapt to the rider and not the other way round. That’s why we used an adjustable seat for our first bike, in which both the angle and the pedal distance were adjustable. With each further development stage, we introduced a more accurate adjustment, until 2013, when we reached a stage of adjusting without positions. This concept is based on a sliding sleeve, which we produce in a straight version for our tricycles and some bicycles, as well as in a curved version for recumbents.
Super-oversized main frame tube
AZUB frames are recognisable by their central frame tube to which all the major elements are fixed, be it the head tube with the front fork, the seat, the rear fork bracket or the luggage racks. This solution not only gives our bikes maximal stiffness and solidity, hence providing stable riding performance, but also an important carriage capacity in the form of its back carrier. You will especially appreciate our technical solution when fully loaded with several bags behind you, as their weight will not influence the riding performance of your recumbent at all.

For years, we have tried not to restrict our cyclist customers in the selection of components they can have on their bicycles. After all, there are so many different people with so many different tastes and needs. Plus, the world of cycling is bursting with interesting solutions. Therefore, we can offer you both a traditional shifter with a triple crankset as well as the unique Pinion gearbox, or the Shimano Alfine Di2 electronic shifting. Likewise, you may want to ride on tarmac roads with tyres as thin as a sheet of paper or you might just prefer the comfort of wide balloon tyres. That is why we have such a wide range of components. As well as our wide range of components, we also offer an extensive list of accessories you can mount on your bike. Well, you cannot be expected to be happy with the same rack and the same lights when commuting to work and when cycling in rough terrain. And because we enjoy both commuting to work and revelling in rough terrain, as well as riding across the continent, we do have an idea of what might come in handy. Moreover, we listen to our customers and we listen very carefully. So it is often you, who come up with a great idea. You try it out and then we will start producing it again, for you.
Bikes for everyone
Not everyone on this planet is lucky enough to be healthy, fully mobile and able to set off wherever they want at the drop off a hat. Helping people with a variety of physical health problems or even psychological problems gives our business a completely different dimension. And because cycling is often one of the few ways such people can enjoy outdoor exercise, we are always overjoyed when we manage to build a bike for someone who really needs it. In our offer you will therefore find features such as brakes and shifting mounted only one side, the Shimano Di2 electronic shifting that requires very little force to control, or a rarity such as push brakes. Made in the Czech Republic
We are very proud to be personally acquainted with the person who welds our frames, to know who then paints them and who operates the laser with which all the necessary holes are burned into the tubes. We are equally pleased with the fact that we employ our neighbours and friends and that most of them have been working for us for many years now. Apart from some ordinary components such as derailleurs or tyres, our bikes are made in the Czech Republic with some components sourced from nearby Slovakia. This allows us to respond to our customers’ demands rapidly and also to produce small number orders of just several models a year. These bikes could not be created in Asia, where volumes are everything, at all. Meet the people who make the wheels turn in AZUB.
