As we mentioned in our previous post, choosing a Bosch motor with the Smart System is, in our opinion, a great decision—and we’re confident you’ll enjoy your recumbent equipped with it. And if you’re just starting your recumbent journey and haven’t decided which one to get yet, we highly recommend trying out an AZUB with this motor.

The Bosch Performance CX motors we use on our recumbents are originally set up for mountain bikes. That means they’re configured not just for performance, but also for maximum range and the ability to sustain high power output over long periods. But based on years of experience, we know that our customers often prefer a motor that responds more sensitively and delivers more immediate power—even at the cost of slightly reduced range.

And it might come as a surprise, but just easy adjustment in the motor’s settings can significantly improve your riding experience. The only catch is that this adjustment can’t be done by the manufacturer—it has to be made by the new owner directly in the Bosch Flow app.

That’s why we believe it’s absolutely worth trying this setting tweak on your new recumbent. At the very least, test it out. If you’re visiting a dealer for a test ride, it’s a good idea to check whether their demo bikes are set up this way too.

In the video we’ve prepared, you’ll find a clear explanation of how to make the change in your Bosch motor settings on an AZUB recumbent.

If you missed our previous post about why and how to download the Bosch Flow app, you can find it here.

Next time, we’ll explore another handy function of the Bosch Flow app: Range Control. It helps make sure your battery doesn’t run out just a few miles before reaching your destination.
